Pathology Central Services Assistant

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and confident individual to join the small team within our Pathology Central Services Area.

This post will provide support and assistance to the Pathology Central Services by collating orders for clinical areas and GPs, performing stock control, operating the autoclaves for microbiological waste and other general duties within Pathology.

This post will require you to interact with service users on a daily basis either over the phone or face to face, deal with heavy loads and also travel between hospital sites as this post covers both QMC and City Pathology Central Services Areas.

The successful candidate will display excellent communication skills, be able to work well within a team and have the ability to work well within a laboratory based environment dealing with clinical waste and associated smells.

Main duties of the job

Full duties can be found in the Job Description, but some of the key duties of this post are:

Process, collate and assemble order of Pathology Consumables for wards, clinics and GPs

Operate the autoclaves/Waste disposal

Liaise with wards, GPs and other service users

General housekeeping duties

Stock control
