Maintenance Assistant Higher Level

Job summary

The post holders will form part of the existing team responsible for the engineering maintenance of the Trust. Maintenance assistants will be employed on work appropriate to their core specialist skills. They will however, progressively be suitably trained to acquire elements of each other's skills, with the intention of reaching levels of flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply the ability where required to perform the summary duties listed below.

As the post holder will be meeting patients and members of the public, a smart appearance and courteous disposition is needed.

Main duties of the job

A supporting member of the engineering team, in ensuring the day-to-day efficient and safe working of all engineering plant on site.

Comply in all aspects with the department's Health and Safety policies, demonstrating a basic knowledge of electrical and workshop safety, being responsible from time to time for trainees, school pupils on work-experience and the general public.

Be accountable for your own actions, when undertaking unsupervised work.

Undertake training as necessary and in particular on the provisions of the HSC Approved Code of Practice for the Control of Legionella (L8) and/or for the operation and maintenance of the Trust's Access Control System as well as on site Medical Gases.
