Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medicine Directorate for a part time (15 hours) Medical PA with waiting list experience to join an established team within the Cardiac Surgery Department.

The successful candidate must have proven secretarial/personal assistant experience. You will be responsible for supporting the clinical team, managing diaries, clinical commitments, waiting lists and annual leave. You will use your judgement skills to prioritise tasks.

You are an enthusiastic and conscientious team player with excellent time management and organisational skills. You are an effective communicator and you must be able to demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Trust's 'We Are Here for You' behavioural standards. It is essential to have excellent audio typing skills, knowledge of medical terminology and previous recent experience in a secretarial role. Waiting list experience is desirable. You are adaptable and flexible in your approach to work and committed to providing a first class service.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a team the post-holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to the clinical team, managing diaries, meetings and commitments.

You will be responsible for adding/removing patients to the NUH waiting list and co-ordinating admission to hospital, using hospital IT systems, e.g. Medway PAS and Bluespier. You must have a good understanding of current NHS targets including 18 week Referral to Treatment. You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You must be able to forward think and problem solve.
