Job summary
Full-time Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a responsibility in skin cancer for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is a locum post to support provision of skin cancer (Including Head & Neck Skin Cancer) and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy (SLNB) across both sites at Queens Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital (NCH) Campus of Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust, with possibility of some skin cancer programmed activities for affiliated trusts (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS and Sherwood Forest Hospitals Foundation Trust) as part of Service Level Agreements (SLAs). There will also be opportunity to restart facial palsy service within Plastic Surgery.
Main duties of the job
The post is initially for 12 months. It is our intention that the post will be converted and advertised as a substantive position within this timeframe.
The Job Description for this role is provisional and not fixed and may be subject to changes in response to service demands and clinical needs over the tenure of the locum vacancy but will retain a primary focus to support delivery of specialist skin cancer services.

Essential
- Full GMC registration
- Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register
- CCT / CESR expected within 6 months of interview date
- FRCS (Plast) or equivalent
Desirable
- Higher professional degree
Skills / Experience
Essential
- Evidenced technical skills as described in the job description
- Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals.
Desirable
- Fellowship level experience or equivalent in Skin Cancer
- H&N Reconstruction fellowship or similar experience
- Fellowship level experience or equivalent in microsurgical reconstruction.
- Facial Palsy fellowship or equivalent experience
- Specific training in communication skills
- Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
