Job summary

An opportunity for an Activity Co-ordinator has arisen in the Medicine Division to join our team within Stroke Services. You will be based mainly at Queens Stroke Unit but you will be expected to work across both campuses as an Activity Co-ordinator.

We are looking for someone who is dedicated and committed and has the ability to be part of a team as well as working autonomously to provide high quality dignified care to our patients in a safe environment.

The role of the Activity Co-ordinator is to help complement both Therapy and Nursing by providing a wide range of meaningful and stimulating activates for patients. The activity Co-ordination will will be working with staff and volunteers to ensure the patients have a positive and enjoyable experience while on the ward, whilst ensuring they contribute to the rehabilitation journey of the patients., whilst encouraging patients to be as active as possible.

  • Work as an activity co-ordinator with in-patients on the ward, under the guidance and supervision of qualified nursing and therapy staff.
  • Develop the provision of a varied and ongoing programme of individual and group based evidence based activities for in-patients.
  • Will maximise the range of evidence based activities that can be provided on the ward, in order to improve patient experience of hospital stays, to maintain or rehabilitate in-patients' physical and cognitive skills, and to contribute towards discharge planning processes.
  • Will work alongside others engaged in the delivery of meaningful activity on the ward, in order to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient activity programmes.
