Specialist Sarcoma Physiotherapist

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a highly specialist team in one of only fifteen Sarcoma units in the country. This post involves working closely with the Band 7 Specialist Sarcoma Physiotherapist and would be ideal for a pro-active and ambitious experienced band 5 or a current band 6 looking for a new challenge.

The successful candidate will work with sarcoma patients from diagnosis through to survivorship or palliation. There will be an emphasis on Prehab in preparation for surgery and both acute and long-term rehabilitation. The post will involve working within a mixed environment of Plastic surgery and Oncology, and the post holder will be required to have MSK knowledge and skills. Due to the specialised nature of sarcoma, there is no pre-requisite for previous Sarcoma experience.

Being a rare speciality, there will be opportunity to be actively involved in research and part of a community of highly ambitious therapists looking to develop sarcoma rehabilitation nationally.

There will also be opportunity to work with patients with rare benign conditions that are also managed by the East Midlands Sarcoma Service. Due to fluctuating demands on the service, they will need to have an ability to work flexibly, with initiative and a strong ability to manage their own time.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for a varied caseload of complex patients. You will be required to work flexibly to support the needs of the service, and manage your own time with a fluctuating caseload. You will demonstrate an ability to work autonomously in the absence of the band 7 and will be expected to work closely with all members of the MDT.
