Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Ward Receptionist to join a diverse and motivated team that are dedicated to the development of skills and the delivery of high quality safe care. The post is on the Neuro and spinal post operative unit at the Queens medical centre , we consist of 10 bedded unit.

As the Ward Receptionist, you will often be the first point of contact for patients and visitors when entering the unit so a friendly, welcoming smile and excellent communication skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

Tasks will include but not be limited to fulfilling all necessary reception, clerical, administrative and general tasks required to facilitate and record patient information using technology systems. Staff are expected to be courteous and considerate at all times and have excellent customer care.

Basic computer skills will be needed and an understanding of Microsoft word and excel. Basic typing skills is a necessity preferably at RSA level 2. NUH programmes such as Care flow, bluespire, Patient Transport and Notis would be an advantage.

Essential

  • Secondary School standard of education in basic numeracy and literacy. Evidence of personal development in previous employment.

Desirable

  • Competent at using Care Flow System, Nationally recognised qualification in basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant work experience at least 1 Year

Desirable

  • Previous Employment within a Health field or working within a team. Clerical experience.

Communication and Relationship Skills

  • Able to produce short accurate written messages and effectively communicate with patient, visitors and all levels of staff in a clear articulate way. Good Telephone manner. Friendly and approachable.
