Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the receptionist team, to cover maternity leave on a fixed term contract for 9 months. This is an exciting time as we near completion of the MNR Project.
The role is important for the smooth running of this busy intensive care area. Whilst working under the direction of the ward sister and supporting a multi-disciplinary team with receptionist duties, you will be expected to show initiative and communicate well, both in writing and verbally. The post holder does require computer literacy and full training to use the hospital systems will be given. The unit cares for premature or sick babies and this may be stressful to some applicants.

A receptionist is required to complete the team. The post involves shift work working as part of a 7-day rota (which includes Bank Holidays) typically covering 8am - 8pm Mon-Fri; and 8am - 4pm Sat & Sun.
As part of the MNR expansion this service will grow to incorporate 24-hour service over 7 days including shifts for days, nights and weekends
We expect you to be caring, enthusiastic and well motivated. You'll need to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. You'll also manage to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's "We are here for you" behavioural standards.
About us
To liaise with other Receptionists to ensure a continuity of service.
To meet and greet all callers to the neonatal unit personally or by phone in accordance with the Trust's values, beliefs and behaviours.
To receive incoming telephone calls and relay messages appropriately. When taking laboratory results, to read them back to the technician to confirm accuracy and hand directly to nursing or medical staff.
To facilitate the access of patients and visitors to and from the neonatal unit using the security doors.
To ensure that visitors receive accurate directions to where their relatives are located on the ward.
