Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Oncology at the City Campus of NUH for a General Administrator in the Secretariat to support typing and admin duties.

The post is working 22.5 hours per week, days to be agreed.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a part time clerical officer to support the Secretarial Team within the Cancer and Associated Services Directorate on the City campus.

The post holder will work as part of a team and will provide administrative and clerical support to the Oncology typing teams they may also be required to provide reception/clinic preparation cover for our Receptions during Annual Leave or Sickness when necessary.

You must be an enthusiastic and conscientious team player with good communication skills and ability to multi task. You should havebasic computer and keyboard skills, with a willingness to undertake training on specific departmental computer systems.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality, be well motivated and reliable.

Job responsibilities

Amend patient clinic letters/ Authorise using Webhiss and send promptly to patients and GP's.

Printing clinic lists from Medway

Photocopying/scanning as required

Deal appropriately with enquiries, by telephone and in person, from staff and the general public, seeking advice or referring elsewhere if necessary.

Ensure all RTT patient data are recorded accurately and timely.

Amend patient clinic letters/ Authorise using Webhiss and send promptly to patients and GP's.

Keep personally updated and be able to advise patients in relation to peripheral services available, i.e. transport, interpreting services etc.

Receive and respond to enquiries from relatives/external agencies adhering to Trust confidentiality guidelines at all times

Distributing and opening in-coming mail timely and dealing with appropriately.

Be able to competently use Hospital IT systems and other information technology systems and participate in training programmes to develop and update personal skills to meet the needs of the department.

Maintain tidy, safe working environment, reporting any hazards or faults timely and appropriately.

Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times and be appropriately dressed when on duty.

Undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be required.
