This is a unique opportunity to work within Gateway A Dermatology based in the Treatment Centre at Nottingham University Hospitals
Gateway A is specialised in Dermatology department covering all aspects of skin conditions including chronic disease and skin cancer.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialty for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist with 2-3 minimum years dermatology experience.We offer a supportive teamwork structure and an opportunity to further your leadership and management skills.We are looking for a dedicated, patient focused and registered nurse who is committed to providing the highest standards of nursing care for our patient's .You will be required to work independently and autonomously.You will work closely with all members of the nursing team including Matron, Nurse Consultant and members of the MDT contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce.If you are enthusiastic, able to work in a demanding, yet rewarding environment within a friendly, supportive team, then we are what you are looking for.
Main duties of the job
- To carry out nurse led clinics relevant to the needs of the service.
- Manage and respond to patient queries.
- To contribute to the development of the Dermatology Nursing Service for Nottinghamshire and ensure practice is patient centred.
- To demonstrate evidence-based advanced practice in holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care within Dermatology nursing service.
- To demonstrate high levels of autonomy and advocacy.

- Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to patients and, in collaboration with the unit staff and Matron identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken.
- In collaboration with the Matron, ensure that the patient has a satisfactory experience by evaluating patient processes and redesigning the pathway of care.
- Improve and maintain standards of essential (basic) nursing care by working with the department staff and Matron using tools such as clinical benchmarking, peer reviews etc.
- Support the Matron in ensuring clinical audit takes place in line with the Trusts requirements to improve practice.
- During regular clinical sessions, act as a role model and teacher, working alongside other staff. Liaise with patients who visit the department, working collaboratively with the team and other multidisciplinary staff.
