Specimen Reception Manager

An opportunity has arisen for the role of Specimen Reception Manager within Clinical Pathology at NUH

The role involves;

  • Taking overall responsibility for the operational management of the Specimen Reception areas covering the specimen receptions at NCH and QMC.
  • Management of all aspects of HR, sickness, workforce planning and recruitment, including e-rostering of the 24/7 service coverage
  • Act as the lead for the specimen reception areas including managing the staff, equipment and processes within it.
  • Direct the coordination of the day to day activities associated with specimen reception
  • Act as the link role between the Clinical Pathology Quality Management System (QMS) and Specimen Reception
  • Close working with the laboratory disciplines that the work of Specimen reception feeds into, in particular autocore chemistry and haematology
  • Line Management of a team of SREC staff

Main duties of the job

The specimen reception manager role involves;

A key part of this role over the autumn of 2024, will be the leadership of the changes in specimen reception as a result of implementing a new laboratory IT system.
