LOCUM CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST Imaging and Heart failure.
Applications are invited for the post of locum Consultant Cardiologist. The successful applicant will become part of a team of 23 Consultant Cardiologists. They will contribute to a comprehensive consultant-led secondary and tertiary cardiology service. They will have broad experience in all aspects of clinical cardiology, with sub-speciality expertise in heart failure and advanced cardiac imaging. The appointee will participate in the cardiology on-call rota along with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
NUH has an ambulatory heart failure unit and heart failure nurse specialists. Imaging modalities at NUH include stress echo, MRI, TOE and CT.
Main duties of the job
This post has been configured to cover a career break of 6 to 24 months and will deal with increasing demand on the heart failure and imaging services, to assist with the emergency pathway and to support the cardiology department's contribution towards meeting the 4 hour ED target and provision of acute medicine.
NUH has an ambulatory heart failure unit and heart failure nurse specialists. Imaging modalities at NUH include stress echo, MRI, TOE and CT.
There are currently 5 cardiologists with a special interest in cardiac imaging, working closely with consultant colleagues in radiology. The CMR service includes stress and adult congenital heart disease imaging.
We have a well established stress echocardiography service including dobutamine and exercise stress, and two outpatient TOE lists per week with additional TOE guidance for lab procedures performed regularly. The service is supported by dedicated imaging nurses.
About us
Secondary and tertiary cardiology services are delivered on both NUH campuses, at Queens Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital (NCH). The tertiary catchment covers Nottingham and surrounding districts, North Nottinghamshire, and parts of Lincolnshire and Derbyshire (population approximately 1.3 million). Secondary cardiology services in Nottingham are provided over both campuses, with the majority of acute cardiac admissions coming through the emergency department based on the QMC campus.
TheTrent Cardiac Centre (TCC) is a bespoke cardiac services building providing two new cardiac catheter laboratories, a day case unit, and day case echocardiography. There are also two cardiac surgical theatres, dedicated cardiac intensive care and high dependency units, and combined cardiology and cardiac surgical ward accommodation.
