Job summary

The principal role of the Rehab HRC Innovation Pipeline Manager is to support innovators (industry, small or large, academic groups, individuals or whoever) along this pathway. The post holder will support Rehab HRC activities along the pathway and act as the principal guide for innovators throughout their engagement with the HRC.

RehabHRC is centred on the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) with three partners NUH, the University of Nottingham (UoN) and, Loughborough University (LU). It is expected that the post-holder will work closely with these organisations. Moreover, reflecting the East Midlands thriving HealthTech ecosystem the post-holder will work with other organisations not limited to (A-Z):

Main duties of the job

Specifically, the role will:

  • Work closely with the NIHR RehabHRC Director(s), Theme Leads (and particularly the Innovation Pipeline theme leads) and Programme Manager to establish, develop and promote the Innovation Funnel, through which the Rehab HRC will attract new technologies.
  • Work closely with NIHR RehabHRC Director(s) and Programme Manager to establish, develop and run the quarterly Innovation Events through which innovators will be able to refine their offerings with support of key HRC experts and stakeholders.
  • Support innovators to apply for Rehab HRC project funding (and other funding as appropriate) to further develop their technologies.
  • Liaise closely with the HRC Theme leads, Project Leads and HRC research staff to support the delivery of projects including:
    • Supporting project planning
    • Leading on commissioning of technologies (into clinical/non-clinical studies/evaluations)
    • Providing coordination/communication between key stakeholders, including: researchers, companies, suppliers, NHS and social care staff and patients on all aspects of the project progression

  • Degree & MSc or equivalent in relevant engineering/scientific discipline
  • Qualification in project management (e.g. PRINCE2) or equivalent experience

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification, i.e., Masters or PhD in mental health or health research or MBA.
