Job summary
We are seeking a Consultant Radiologist with special interests in cardiothoracic radiology at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to support ongoing expansion and increasing demand. There is also a commitment to general and emergency body imaging in the Trust.
Services are delivered at the City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre. Emergency medicine is located at Queen's Medical Centre and the majority of out of hours imaging occurs here. Cardiothoracic radiology is based principally at the Nottingham City Hospital campus.
There are currently seven radiologists with a specialist interest in cardiothoracic imaging who provide the primary input to the thoracic service at NUH. NUH prides itself on a large lung cancer service, diagnosing and treating 600 new lung cancer cases per annum. The Trust is supporting the National lung cancer screening programme. It hosts a large tertiary cardiothoracic surgical unit and the regional PET-CT centre.
Radiologist led cardiac imaging is also undertaken at City, working in close collaboration with the cardiologists at Trent Cardiac Centre.
NUH was amongst the leaders nationwide delivering a completely radiology led day case ambulatory lung biopsy service, offering direct to home discharge from CT in over 95% of lung biopsies. We are also leaders in role extension, having 4 radiographer reporters supporting the lung nodule service, the post will involve supporting their roles.

A full range of emergency and elective patients are admitted to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the appointee will be responsible for the imaging procedures of those patients.
The appointee will join the existing team of radiologists within the radiology department and will support the growth in demand for imaging services. With their consultant colleagues they will provide a comprehensive service within their areas of expertise and reciprocal cover for periods of leave.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in multidisciplinary meetings (MDT), teaching, research, audit and continuing professional development.
