Estates Operations Manager (BMS)
This job is now closed
Job summary
The Estates Operations Manager (BMS) is a new role created by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to manage a new cross-site in-house BMS team. This is a really exciting opportunity for an experienced BMS Engineer to make a huge difference - improving the service we offer to patients, reducing the Trust's energy costs and helping our estates department become less reactive and more proactive.
The Trust is currently installing a new Schneider EcoStruxure BMS and will be providing training to all staff in due course.
This role asks for a Masters Degree or equivalent experience. Whilst not set in stone, we'd equate that to around 6 years of experience as a BMS Engineer if the candidate doesn't have a Masters degree. Candidates without a Masters degree who are shortlisted will have the opportunity at the interview stage to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge gained within the workplace.
If you are unsure whether you meet the requirements or not, feel free to contact the recruiting manager for an informal discussion about the role.
Main duties of the job
As the Estates Operations Manager (BMS) is a new role in charge of a new team, we would envisage the first 3 months in post being spent getting to know the existing systems and processes. There will be a requirement to build up key relationships with estates and IT colleagues.
The installation of our new Schneider BMS is ongoing and it is likely this role will pick up the management of that in conjunction with EON who are carrying out controller replacements from the existing Trend system.
There is a requirement to setup training for the workshop teams at QMC and City sites. This involves delivering a training program for around 200 workshop staff with varying levels of BMS and computer knowledge.
With the rollout of the Trust's new CAFM system there will be a requirement to build asset lists for the BMS and maintain these in conjunction with the Trust's asset manager.
As a hospital BMS manages critical life safety systems the role comes with a high level of responsibility, an ability to build good relationships with estates customers (clinical staff and patients) is essential.
