Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity to be a part of a wonderful team has arisen at Nottingham University Hospitals.

Based at Queens Medical Centre (QMC), we are looking for a Receptionist to work within our team within Eye Casualty toprovide reception and administration cover.

The new job holder must be able to work on their own initiative and have excellent time management skills to organise their day to day duties effectively.

Main duties of the job

Greet patients at reception, check their personal details are correct, enter details needed by the triage staff to allow correct prioritisation of patients, ensuring patient confidentiality.

Using Medway ED PAS or any other relevant booking systems arrange appointments for follow up review, as instructed by the medical/nursing staff. Arrange transport as necessary.

Check eye casualty referrals are complete, returning to clinician if not, and then distribute to correct area.

Answer reception telephone, taking information from the caller to either redirect enquiry, pass caller to clinical staff or deal with non-clinical enquiries where appropriate.

Print clinic lists Ensure all eye casualty attendance outcomes are recorded accurately on the day.

Admit or book in patients attending appointments in the laser clinic. Discharge or outcome these attendances when completed.

Keep personally updated and be able to advise patients in relation to peripheral services available, i.e. transport, interpreting services etc.

Notify Eye Casualty Administration Co-ordinator or designated person of any patients who fail to attend their appointment who will take necessary action in line with departmental and/or Trust policies.

Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times and be appropriately dressed when on duty.

Undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be required.
