Papplewick ward is a 32 beds for patients with a variety of both Acute and Chronic Cardiac conditions.
Papplewick admissions come through a number of pathways including emergency admissions, heart failure nurse referrals, GP and Clinic referral as well as transfers from other hospitals and wards.
Patients on Papplewick may undergo a range of procedures including Angiograms, Angioplasty's, Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators, TAVIs and a range of other hospital investigations and procedures. Papplewick is a cardiac monitored unit and full training will be given to learn new skills where necessary.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to assess the care needs of patients and develop a programme of care which is evaluated and amended as appropriate. In addition, the post holder will be expected to carry out relevant forms of care without direct supervision. The post holder will be able to learn about cardiac conditions and training will be provided around cardiac monitors and rhythms to ensure safe patient care.

About us
Papplewick Ward has a range of skilled staff who have been on the ward and also newly qualified nurses who are new to cardiology.
We work a mixture of Long Days, Nights and weekends and in house training will be accessible for the successful post candidate.
In house training by the Heart Service Education team will be arranged once candidates are in post which include a new starters course, ECG recognition and also a Heart Services Education Programme. Opportunities are available to develop by undertaking courses such as Acute Care Skills, Immediate Life Support and later Advanced Life Support. Also many more courses are offered within the Trust. A time of supernumerary will be offered to ensure comfortable transition.
