Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Infectious Diseases administration team.

You will be working as part of a small team providing high quality audio typing and clerical duties for the department, working closely with the Speciality Medical PAs.

Main duties of the job

You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent audio typing skills,good organisational and communication skills with a soundtyping background.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure. The ability to manage your time and prioritise your workload whilst remaining patient focused is essential.

You will be responsible for the audio typing of clinical correspondence within specified timescales. You will need to be a fast and accurate audio typist with knowledge of medical terminology.

You will also be responsible in supporting speciality PA with outcoming to ensure payment is received.

You will also be able to prioritise your workload with constantly changing demands, to meet agreed deadlines. You will be able to use your own initiative and respond to queries appropriately.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 4 GCSE's or equivalent C or above - must include English
  • Computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.

Desirable

  • RSA II typing /word processing or equivalent experience

Experience/ Skils

Essential

  • Proven typing and admin experience
  • Fast and accurate audio typing Experience in using Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient / client confidentiality
  • Can complete letters, forms, reports and tables using computerised technology from information collected

Desirable

  • Previous experience with audio typing
  • Experience of using NHS systems eg Medway PAS and Notis
  • Medical terminology

Communication and Relationship

  • Uses correct grammar and spelling
  • Demonstrate understanding of confidentiality and data protection
