Job summary
There are 19,000 colleagues who make up Nottingham University Hospitals 'Team NUH' and we are the largest employer in our region. We provide a range of health services to Nottingham, its surrounding communities, and the wider East Midlands. Our services are based at City Hospital, Queens Medical Centre, Ropewalk House and we will deliver services from the National Rehabilitation Centre in the future. As one of the largest teaching Trusts in the country, we provide services to 10% of England's population, we have an annual income of £1.6bn, and we are a national and international leader for many of our specialist services. Our Major Trauma Centre is the largest in the country, we have a strong research and teaching agenda and significant links to the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and Loughborough University. Our vision is "to be outstanding in health outcomes and patient and staff experience".
Main duties of the job
Reporting directly to our Chief Executive Anthony May, we are seeking a Chief People Officer to join "Team NUH" with responsibility for developing and delivering our People Strategy. This is a rare chance for an experienced and progressive Chief People Officer to join an exceptional and committed team to make a substantial impact in an organisation with huge potential and with people at its core. Following a challenging period, NUH is undergoing significant change with a refreshed Board established; we are already demonstrating improvement in our culture and engagement with staff and stakeholders but we need to do more.
About us
We are focussed on transforming our services and Trust, so that it can better face the current future challenges across the health and social care sector. Whilst NUH has many examples of success, we face a significant challenge. Our People First initiative offers a strategic roadmap to tackle our challenges and to harness the many opportunities available to NUH. People First is driving change at all levels, ensuring that NUH is a progressive organisation. In response to challenging financial circumstances, the Trust has embarked upon an ambitious financial recovery plan, which is aligned to People First. We are committed to making improvements to bring benefits to our staff and patients. We are making many changes and building better engagement with our staff, system partners and wider stakeholders.
We are working closely with Donna Ockenden, Chair of the Nottingham University Hospitals Maternity Review. This Review was opened officially in September 2022. We are committed to supporting this Review and to learning the lessons from the Review's conclusions.
We are an ambitious organisation; committed to thinking differently about how we integrate services to deliver safe, high quality and effective care that are sustainable for the future health and wellbeing of our populations. As our role in the Integrated Care System continues to evolve, we are working closely with partners to meet increasing demands and to effect sustainable system change.
