Job summary

NUH Digital Services are looking for an experienced Interface Analyst/Developer to join our Interfacing team in a senior capacity.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the below summary you will need to familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification documents attached to this advert.

Working with colleagues in the Interfacing and other Digital Services teams, the post holder will be expected to provide support to the team manager, providing mentoring and advice to more junior team members. and taking a leading role in the analysis, design, and development of real-time message interfaces. As an expert in the field of interfacing and the use of Rhapsody, the post-holder will also be expected to help with the development and maintenance of standards, procedures, and best practice guides, also where this may concern the potential adoption of new technologies in the team.

About us

You will be part of a small team, but work closely with many other colleagues within and outside Digital Services on a daily basis. We are very friendly and supportive of each-other, and try to provide everyone in our teams with the opportunity to learn and develop. Please note that taking part in the on-call rota for the team is a requirement for this post.

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • A relevant IT degree at MSc level or above, or have equivalent, relevant NHS experience (equivalent experience = a minimum of 3 years' working in a relevant technical role of sufficient seniority)

Desirable

  • Qualification in ITIL Service Management (Foundation Level)

Experience

Essential

  • Familiar with Trust Hospital and Information systems with extensive knowledge of the Patient Administration System and Interfaces.
  • At least 5 years' experience of (interface) software development within a structured environment.
  • Considerable practical experience working with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle relational databases, and SQL.
  • Has highly advanced/specialist knowledge of healthcare IT communication standards including HL7 v2.
  • Highly experienced in using a Trust Integration Engine to design, build and test interfaces.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with XLM
  • Experience developing interfaces that transform messages via Mapper Definition Files and JavaScript filters using the Lyniate Rhapsody integration engine.
  • Experience of working with HL7 FHIR messages in JSON format.

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication (-1 for spelling mistakes, -1 for grammatical mistakes, -2 for unanswered questions, -2 for unclear/confused answers)
  • Demonstrable experience in writing project-related documentation such as design specifications and test plans
