Job summary

The role of a Clinical Procurement Specialist [CPS] is varied, challenging and rewarding. You will be instrumental in providing clinical knowledge and experience into the Procurement Team. Your ability to engage clinical teams will help drive the future procurement strategy.

As a CPS you will help drive value-based procurement, looking at efficiencies within the patient journey as well as traditional cost savings. You will lead on projects to identify ways of reducing; length of stay, theatre times, clinic times and improving patient outcomes.

You will provide a key role in finding clinically acceptable alternatives to ensure continuity of supply of critical items to safely maintain service delivery.

You will support the Trusts Net Zero agenda with a focus on consumable's and waste reduction.

The team work closely with NHS Supply Chain and have the ability to directly influence and feedback on products at a national level. There is an amazing national network of colleagues to tap into with a wealth of knowledge to share.

The team support the NUH governance agenda, filtering Field Safety Notices (FSN) and Central Alerting System (CAS) alerts.

We are currently hybrid working as dictated by workload and projects. With a minimum of two days on-site per week.

Main duties of the job

Utilize clinical skills and knowledge to inform purchasing and standardization across NUH in line with local policy and guidelines.

Support Materials Management and other ordering teams to find suitable clinical alternative products as required

Use clinical knowledge and policy to reduce risk associated with introducing alternative clinical products into the trust.

Feed into the departmental work plan regarding annual savings and projects

Work alongside the procurement category managers to manage contracts and gain approval of new contracts .

Manage relevant CAS/FSN within NUH.

Support clinical colleagues to navigate procurement systems and process .

Support clinical colleagues to raise complaints regarding products
