Morris Ward is part of the Medical Division, Cardiac Surgery Directorate, caring for patient's both pre and post Cardiac Surgery. We are based on NUH City Campus, within the Trent Cardiac Centre.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who is proactive and highly motivated to deliver high-quality, safe, compassionate patient care, and who demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills.

It is anticipated the successful candidate will be a committed, enthusiastic, flexible team playerwho is ready to become part of a ward team, keen to develop new knowledge and skills.

We offer an exciting pathways for new starters including the Cardiac Surgery Foundation and Surgery Fundamentals Course's.

Main duties of the job

As the Registered Nurse you will be required to maintain an awareness of the developments in the care and treatment of patients in order to be able to carry out duties competently and efficiently.

The successful Registered Nurse will be responsible for ensuring that the care needs of patients are met through the delivery of high quality patient care. Providing direct patient care, assessing, planning and evaluating care, without direct supervision.

The successful candidate must document the condition and progress of patients and report to senior nursing staff and/or medical staff any areas of concern.

As the Registered Nurse you may supervise unregistered (and at times registered) staff and students, as appropriate.

Effective communication channels are important and you must be aware of the need for confidentiality both verbally and written.

Undertake nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines.

Demonstrate clinical procedures to registered and unregistered staff as required.

Dependent upon experience, take charge of the clinical area (at times) in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility or his/her deputy.

Take an active role in link or project work.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete all local competency packages and training in line with the role. Continuing their professional development, maintaining competence and registration.
