Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, pro- active Senior Radiographer to join as our new MRI Modality Manager.
You will work closely with the Radiology Speciality General Manager for MRI. You will have responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of Nottingham University Hospitals MRI departments.
This post will oversee the line management of the MRI Radiographers as well as working with the Intraoperative Lead for the managing of the Imaging Assistant team and will be supported by the MRI Lead radiographer and Lead for the Intraoperative Lead radiographer with the leadership and management of the MRI team. There are also reporting radiographers.
There are MRI scanners at QMC, City, Treatment Centre as well as 5 mobile scanners and 1 at National Sports Centre East Midlands where the service is managed by NUH. The Modality Manager role is to cover Monday to Friday.
We actively encourage staff to undertake continuing professional development and extension of the radiographers' role. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to extend their role in line with service needs.
Main duties of the job
- To lead the team in the operational management of the Radiology service within a specific modality across campus and contribute to the strategic development of the service in conjunction with the Radiology leadership team.
- To monitor the performance of all staff within the team.
- To ensure high standards of clinical care and competency within the team, through the training and development of staff.
- To maintain up to date specialist knowledge of all current radiographic procedures carried out within the modality.
- To take responsibility and oversee the supervision, education and performance (including sickness management) of all clinical staff in the team.
- To represent the Trust internally and externally regarding Radiology services
- To be aware of and comply with the local rules of the Radiology department and modality specific drawn up in accordance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017.
