We have an exciting opportunity for an existing band 6 or experienced band 5 to join the Respiratory Medicine Physiotherapy team in a permanent full time capacity. You will work within an established and friendly team based at City campus of Nottingham University Hospitals.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is committed to further improving their respiratory skills and providing a high quality service for our patients.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong respiratory skills and clinical reasoning, as well as excellent time and caseload management. The ability to adapt and work flexibly is vital to this role. You must have also completed core band 5 rotations.
You will be part of the wider Medical Inpatient Physio team working alongside physiotherapists specialising in Respiratory, Oncology, Infectious diseases, Haematology, Renal and Palliative care.
This will allow you to develop your clinical, leadership, teaching and service development skills whilst working within a supportive and motivated team. We work closely with our Occupational Therapy colleagues and benefit from joint teaching and patient liaison.
The role also requires you to participate in the on call, bank holiday and weekend rotas, and work flexibly until 9pm to support the late shift at City Campus.
Main duties of the job
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assessing and treating patients as appropriate in all aspects of the respiratory pathway, including the respiratory assessment unit and specialist respiratory medicine wards.
Working as part of multidisciplinary teams in all clinical areas.
Working flexibly across the wider Medical Inpatient team, including outside of respiratory depending on service needs
Participating in the out of hours service (weekends, on-calls, late shifts).
Deputising for the Band 7 as appropriate
Supervising more junior staff (including Band 5, support workers and students)
Providing a supportive and learning environment for team members; including undertaking annual appraisals, supporting health and wellbeing, supporting student placements and providing formal and informal training
Working alongside the band 7's and seniors in the team to develop the service in line with evidence based practice
Leading by example ensuring that NUH values and behaviours are embedded in everyday practice.

The Physiotherapy service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff, working together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to.
Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists and prosthetists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists. We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
