Endoscopy Deputy Sister/ Charge Nurse

Job summary

We are looking to recruit highly motivated Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to work in our team in at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUH), to help lead and develop the well-established team of nurses within NUH Endoscopy. The services operate across the whole of NUH, at Nottingham Treatment Centre, City Hospital Campus and Queens Medical Centre Campus. It is a requirement that all staff members will work across the three sites when required.

The Deputy sister/ Charge nurse will be based at Treatment Centre, Gateway H, the role requires a forward thinking individual, with some leadership skills, who is enthusiastic and who can ensure that the highest standards of care are met. You will be pro-active in the professional development of the nursing team and will need to demonstrate the ability to manage a group of patients, alongside co-ordinating the clinical area and leading nursing teams.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the below summary you need to familiarise yourself with full Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advert. Part time positions would be considered however this would be a minimum of 3 shifts per week, hours negotiable in line with service requirements. Successful candidates must have excellent communication skills along with the ability to prioritise key tasks and should be able to learn new skills if required in a highly technical speciality.

NUH Endoscopy is currently expanding its service to include weekend working and three session days covering evening working.

Essential

  • Current level one NMC registration or Current HPC registration part 1
  • Diploma or Degree in health/nursing related Studies, or ODP equivalent study.

Desirable

  • Formal Leadership and Managment Training

Experience

Essential

  • Min 2 years experienced in NHS acute care settings at band 5 or above.
  • Ability to manage a clinical area or ward efficiently and effectively

  • Experience of leading a team
