A23 is based at Queens Medical Centre and is part of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. Across our 16 bedded inpatient ward and fast paced triage unit we care for patients experiencing gynaecological and early pregnancy issues. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic healthcare assistants to join our dynamic team to provide high quality patient care. As a HCA you will play a pivotal role in supporting the registered nurses in delivering the care and clinical skills for the patients within A23.

A23 is a 16 bedded emergency/elective inpatient ward with a clinical triage and outpatient/day case management area. We care for women from multi- cultural and diverse backgrounds experiencing gynaecological concerns and those who could be experiencing complications in early pregnancy up to 20 weeks gestation.
The successful applicant will need to be enthusiastic, reliable and adaptable with good communication skills and dedicated to providing a high level of patient care.

Job responsibilities
- Provide basic hygiene needs to patients, demonstrating respect for privacy and dignity and patient choice.
- Provide assistance to patients requiring toilet facilities, demonstrating respect for privacy and dignity.
- Assist patients to mobilize to their optimum ability within Trust policies and under the guidance of the nursing staff.
- Demonstrate understanding of patients nutritional needs, provide drinks and meals to patients as appropriate, offer support and assistance to patients requiring feeding and/or feeding implements/tools. Be involved in the identification of patients nutritional risk assessments and care planning.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation level and blood glucose level) of patients demonstrate an understanding of the normal range and report any abnormal recordings to nursing staff. Record early warning score and report any abnormal reading to nursing staff.
- Perform venepuncture as requested by nursing/medical staff within Trust policy and once appropriate training has been given.
