Job summary

Applications are invited for the above full-time substantive post based at the Queens Medical Centre Campus for the trauma practice and the Nottingham City Campus / Treatment Centre for the elective practice.

We anticipate that the successful post holder will have recognised fellowship training in limb reconstruction in a major trauma centre such that they are able to undertake acute and elective limb reconstruction services as part of the wider Orthoplastic team. They will evolve and develop, along with the existing limb reconstruction team, the units limb reconstruction pathways. They will also undertake primary hip arthroplasty within the Nottingham Elective Orthopaedic Service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to join the 1 in 12 on call rota on a minimum of a 10 PA job plan. On call responsibilities will lie within the trauma unit based at the Queen's Medical Centre, home of the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre.

The job plan will include one fracture clinic each week, one elective clinic each week and two all day operating lists. The department is a collegiate group of colleagues with well established pathways for mentorship and supervision of new consultants.

The applicant will also be expected to have a significant interest in medical education (undergraduate and postgraduate) and should be prepared to take on responsibilities for teaching undergraduates within the department.

The Consultant will join a dynamic and collegiate group of 26 other T&O consultant colleagues, sharing the inpatient and outpatient management of adult orthopaedic trauma and elective patients.
