Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a sub-specialist interest in hip surgery. The successful candidate will work at Nottingham City Campus/Treatment Centre for their elective practice. Peripheral community clinics may also be included as part of their job plan. They will join a dynamic and collegiate group of 26 other T&O consultant colleagues.
The successful candidate must be able demonstrate a commitment and genuine interest in complex elective hip surgery, including young adult hips. They must have completed an elective hip surgery fellowship in a regional arthroplasty service. They will join the elective on call rota at the City Hospital campus.
The job plan will include two elective clinics each week and two all day operating lists. The department is a collegiate group of colleagues with well-established pathways for mentorship and supervision of new consultants.
The applicant will be expected to have a significant interest in medical education and will undertaken scheduled teaching sessions to support the University of Nottingham undergraduates.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidates job plan will include two elective clinics each week and two all day operating lists.
The post will deliver 10 PAs supporting the Elective Orthopaedic Group at the Nottingham City campus. The Consultant will work with a team of 12 other Orthopaedic consultants, sharing the inpatient and outpatient management of adult elective patients.
The department runs an active audit and research program and candidates will be expected to undertake additional projects to develop their CV and future career progression. Opportunities exist for teaching undergraduates and junior doctors for candidates with an interest in Medical Education.
