Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity within Outpatients at the Nottingham City Hospital Campus, working on the reception desk in the Main Outpatients department. You will have excellent customer service skills, and be committed to providing a first class service to all our patients.

Main duties of the job

As a receptionist working as part of the Outpatients team, you will often be the first point of contact that a patient has when they enter the hospital. You will be greeting them, checking and updating their personal details (whilst maintaining confidentiality), and directing them where to go within the department or wider hospital. Using CareFlow PAS and other relevant booking systems, you will arrange follow-up appointments and update details accurately and efficiently.

You'll have excellent communication skills and will deal appropriately with enquires both by telephone and in person.

Main Responsibilities

Print clinic lists from CareFlow PAS in advance of the clinic date.

Greet patients at reception, checking that their personal details are correct, and amend if necessary, maintaining patient confidentiality.

Arrange appointments for follow up clinics, as instructed by the clinical staff.

Deal appropriately with enquiries from staff and the general public, seeking advice or referring elsewhere if necessary.

Ensure all clinic outcomes are recorded accurately on the day.

Ensure RTT patient data quality is accurate at all times.

Receive and respond to enquiries from relatives/external agencies adhering to Trust confidentiality guidelines at all times.

Be able to competently use CareFlow PAS and other information technology systems, and participate in training programmes to develop and update personal skills to meet the needs of the department.

Maintain a tidy and safe working environment, reporting any hazards or faults timely and appropriately.

Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times and be appropriately dressed when on duty.

Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required.

Able to travel across both sites when necessary.

Essential

  • To be educated to 'O' level, GCSE or equivalent
  • Experience of Microsoft packages

Desirable

  • To possess 5 GCSE A-C passes including English and Maths or equivalent
