All trust grade doctors are allocated a clinical supervisor upon commencement and study leave will be available to support your progress, as well as ongoing professional and pastoral support from a dedicated team.

Main duties of the job

The programme is doctor centered, with the flexibility that allows the post holder to develop their own areas of interest.

This role offers the opportunity to join NUH as a Trust Grade for 12 months; with potential to extend for a further 12 months.

About us

These posts are ideal opportunities for candidates wishing to gain more experience & exposure in Surgery, prior to an application to a national training programme and for doctors who are unsure which direction they wish to take their career and want time to consider their future direction, while still working and acquiring additional skills and experience. They will also be of interest to candidates who have elected to take time away from their training progression in the interests of work-life balance but now wish to re-establish a foothold in the profession.

For IMG Doctors starting a new role in the NHS and with no UK experience, additional support has been put in place to support your transition. This includes an initial shadowing period of 2 weeks, followed by a supernumerary period of 2 weeks all of which is paid at basic salary. The trust also provides a bespoke induction package for IMG doctors which runs over the entire 2 weeks shadowing period. There are workshops on prescribing at NUH and a practical clinical skills course. The IMG induction also covers: History of the NHS, Developing portfolios, Intro to UK practice, Chaplaincy, Legal requirements after death, Freedom to speak up, BMA, PINC, Sepsis and NEWS2 and Breaking bad news.
