Job summary

We are recruiting a 10 PA Locum Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine or General Paediatrics with SPIN module in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine to be an integral part of the PRM team. The Job plan will be finalised in discussion with the successful candidate.

We are a tertiary referral centre providing a service to the East Midlands for complex respiratory conditions. We provide a comprehensive service focusing on delivering patient and family centred care to a high standard for the children and young people of the region. We have a strong ethos of collaborative multidisciplinary team work.

Any consultant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work 10 PAs will be eligible to be considered for the post on a part-time basis; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues

Main duties of the job

The post will include inpatient service weeks, general respiratory and CF clinics. Depending on the skills of the appointee it will be possible to offer a post with a good balance of general and more specialized paediatric respiratory work.

We offer the following services:

-Specialist cystic fibrosis centre which provides a hub for a shared care network throughout Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.

-Long-term ventilation service which supports children, young people and their families across the region (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Staffordshire) whose long-term and complex health problems mean that they need mechanical ventilation (both non-invasive and tracheostomy).

-Paediatric bronchoscopy service for Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

-Specialist clinics for children with difficult asthma and rare lung disease.

-Service for babies with bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

-Paediatric tuberculosis service.

-Supra regional cleft lip and palate service for young infants.

-Pre-operative assessment for children undergoing spinal surgery.

-Joint respiratory clinics are held with ENT, Immunology, Rheumatology and Paediatric Surgery.

-International clinic for children with Ataxia Telangiectasia.
