Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Job summary

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist to lead the provision of the clinical pharmacy service to the Maternity and Gynaecology specialties whilst the substantive post-holder is on secondment.

Our Maternity wards have excellent Medicines Management Technician support, and we are currently working with the University of Nottingham to apply for a research grant to evaluate the impact that they have on the care of our patients.

The successful applicant will be able to support these specialty areas with all aspects of clinical pharmacy, medicines governance and safety (with support from senior pharmacy colleagues) and continue the work of the current post holder in improving the pharmaceutical care of our patients in these important areas.

This role is being offered as an 18 month secondment (with prior agreement from your current employer) or as a fixed term contract.

Main duties of the job

To work directly with the Maternity and Gynaecology MDTs to support the safe, appropriate and effective use of medicines within those specialties.

To lead the delivery of ward-based clinical pharmacy services to the Maternity and Gynaecology specialties.

To work with the wider Family Health pharmacy team to provide clinical cover for other inpatients and those attending hospital for day case treatments.

To line manage and support technicians and junior pharmacists within the team.

To take full part in 7 day working (including bank holidays) within the wider Pharmacy Department.

To take part in senior pharmacist on-call duties

The post holder will be required to work at both the QMC and City Hospital campuses, but will not be routinely expected to travel between sites during the working day .

  • GPhC registered
