Job summary
Digital Services comprises a multidisciplinary team of professional staff concerned with providing a wide range of services in information, knowledge management; computing and telecommunications many of these are large multi-user systems, with many interfaced together.
The End User Computing Team comprises several permanent support staff on multiple sites whose priority is to provide 2nd line desktop support to the NUH staff by the management of the call management system.
In addition the team provides:
- Installs, moves and changes.
- On Call provision.
- Management of the Desktop and printer estate.
This role is to support the teams with projects to help with the development of state of the art services using mobile technology for recording clinical notes and digital health records.
The use of IT in the NHS is an essential part of the modernization of the service and the postholder will have to bring themselves up to speed with developments in healthcare IT, particularly with regards to Connecting for Health and initiatives from the department of Health with reference to IT.
The core operational hours are currently Monday-Friday 8am until 5pm however these are regularly reviewed in line with the business requirements of our customer base. The Service Desk offer support from 7am until 6pm.
An "On Call" provision covers out of hours and you will be expected to participate in that rota once capable.
Main duties of the job
As one of our Junior EUC Technicians, the current focus of your role will be on the configuration and deployment of new endpoint equipment such as PCs, Laptops, and associated peripherals. This focus, and the specific technologies you support will evolve as you build your experience, and as our service requirements change.

Identify trends and issues of concern in order to suggest service improvements to the EUC Manager in order to improve the service.
Understand the Business Continuity and disaster recovery plan for the Technical Operations team.

To undertake any other duties that could reasonably be required.
