Job summary
The Maternity and Gynaecology department at NUH is looking to appoint Locum Consultantsin order to ensure robust middle grade cover on both our campuses 24/7. We are offering 12 month fixed term contracts with the potential for this to be extended by mutual agreement.
Our Gynaecology service includes an accredited urogynaecology unit, reproductive medicine, benign and emergency gynaecology. Our gynae-oncology service has just been recognised as a certified Advanced Ovarian Cancer Centre by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology. We also run gynaecology clinics in primary care.
Our maternity service is going through a significant transformation which will impact on every aspect of our service, co-designed with our staff and the women and families we care for. Our obstetric services include a labour suite on both campuses, linked to a level 3 Neonatal unit, a dedicated obstetric anaesthetic service and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services.
Candidates should have full MRCOG and at least five years post-graduate experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology including a minimum of 12 months experience at registrar level in the UK or comparable health care system. We can offer educational supervision and the opportunity to develop and / or consolidate your skills in an area of special interest. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates wishing to develop a CESR portfolio will be supported, including weekly CPD time.
Main duties of the job
The changes made to our service in response to the COVID-19 pandemic have increased the need for obstetric consultants who can work with our existing team. We have excellent collaboration with our midwifery and gynaecology colleagues, and are supported by a fantastic business team. All of our staff are encouraged to contribute to service improvement. When you join the NUH family, even on a locum basis, you will be encouraged to do this not only through clinical work, but also through participating in leadership task groups focused on a variety of improvement objectives.
Although the posts will predominantly be to support the general obstetric and gynaecological service, we are able to offer special interest sessions to candidates depending on their area of interest and prior experience.
About us
You will be joining us at a time of significant transformation within our maternity service. We are striving for excellence across the service, from our community care to our labour suite and birth centres. Our tertiary centre provides specialist care and general maternity care to women from across Nottinghamshire.
Working in collaboration with our local Maternity system, network, and Maternity Voices Partnership, we are developing our service to provide high quality care throughout the maternity journey. We are currently seeking to explore new ways of working, such as video consultations, to improve women's experience.
