In this post you will work alongside director, managerial, corporate, medical, nursing and allied multi professional staff as well as the core Divisional Leadership Teams of Divisional Directors, Divisional Nurses and Divisional General Managers to develop and improve excellent services. A strong track-record of successful improvement and transformation delivery is essential as is a life long commitment and fundamental interest in improvement underpinned by a passionate desire to make a difference to patients and their families and to the staff that serve them.

Main duties of the job

As a Head of Transformation you will provide improvement expertise, influence and senior leadership across the Divisional support portfolio of Improvement and Transformation whilst fostering strong relationships across the Trust's Senior Leadership teams to fully harness capabilities for the benefits of patients, their families and the staff who care for them. Your focus will be on working in partnership with clinical and managerial leaders to enable the fundamental adoption of improvement custom and practice into the everyday through effective facilitation, capability and capacity building. Working collaboratively within a senior management team for Improvement & Transformation fostering strong working relationships and ensuring effective communication and leadership are essential so that our team and those benefitting from our support have an equitable lived experience. The post reports directly to the Associate Director of Transformation, is responsible for a team of Senior Improvement and Improvement Leads and plays a significant role in continually improving our strategic approach, role modelling living our values and ensuring our team continue to develop to be the best they can be.

The Improvement and Transformation Team is a 15 person strong service that provides improvement support to the Trust. We have taken to hybrid working and are driven in our approach by the very improvements we are supporting realisation of. The Improvement and Transformation Team is part of the Strategy and Transformation Directorate within Nottingham University Hospitals NHST bringing together strategic, commercial and improvement & transformation development and delivery support for the Trust. We have an important contribution to make to life in Nottingham and the wider region and we take this responsibility seriously. With over 17,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population.

  • Educated to Masters level/Equivalent OR 3+ years working at a senior management level in improvement or transformation
  • Evidence of further specialist knowledge/training relevant to area of practice at higher education level
  • An improvement methodology qualification
  • Qualification in Project/Programme Management OR 3+ years evidenced experience of project/programme management

Desirable

  • Multiple different formal training in service improvement, redesign, productivity and change management methodologies (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, etc...)
  • Quality Service Improvement Redesign (QSIR) Practitioner or Associate trained

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of project management, process re-design and service improvement tools and techniques at a senior level
  • Experience of leading and delivering multiple significant programmes of change that have produced tangible outcomes and benefits
  • Able to demonstrate significant experience in managing a team including management of employee relations.
  • Evidenced and recognised expertise in improvement processes and able to work with subject specialists to assimilate knowledge quickly and effectively to create high impact solutions
