Job summary

We are seeking a Communications Specialist to lead the planning and delivery of our varied programme of virtual and in-person events.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the East Midlandsandwith colleagues acrossthe national AHSN Network, contributing to national and local programmes designed to enable improvements in clinical outcomes, deliver better patient experience, contribute to driving down the cost of care and stimulate economic growth.

This is a full time, permanent post.

Main duties of the job

This key role will work across EMAHSN to build collaboration with our many cross-sector local, regional and national partner organisations.

As part of our award-winning communications team, the postholder will lead the organisation of our varied events programme, planning and coordinating face-to-face and online engagements from workshops, masterclasses and roundtables to major showcases, conferences and visits by VIPs.

As well as organising our own events the postholder will seek speaker opportunities at local, regional and national events, and coordinate awards entries to achieve recognition for our ground-breaking work.

The postholder will be key to driving effective engagement with cross-sector partners, supporting a targeted approach to stakeholder mapping and relationship building. Creativity, enthusiasm and an ability to successfully manage a range of projects concurrently are essential, and the postholder will be expert at using events and engagement tools, systems and processes.

We are one of 15 Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) around England that operate as the innovation arm of the NHS. We bring together partners from all sectors involved in health and care including the NHS, social care and public health, patients, research, third sector and industry to identify, test and spread new technologies and better ways of working. We save the NHS money, generate economic growth, empower health and care staff, and improve lives for patients. We work closely with our health and care stakeholders to establish their priorities then provide support. As part of a national network of AHSNs, we import evidenced solutions from other AHSN regions and export our successful East Midlands programmes on a national basis. We have a range of objectives, but our overarching aim is always to make a difference for patients.

  • Degree level qualification in a communications or engagement related subject, or equivalent experience in communications field

Experince

  • Experience in organising a range of engagement activities such as events, workshops, forums and focus groups - based on both face-to-face (in-person) formats and those delivered virtually using online systems
  • Highly computer literate with experience of MS office software and engagement processes and platforms (e.g. MS Teams, Zoom, Survey Monkey, MailChimp, EventBrite, Slido)
  • Experience of stakeholder mapping / contact development and management
