Job summary

The Trust's Clinical Immunology and Allergy department is a highly recognised regional centre for adults with primary immunodeficiency.

Following a recent successful business case a new exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward thinking Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to deliver and lead pharmacy services within Clinical Immunology and Allergy at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust based on the Treatment Centre Site.

The successful post holder will be working directly with our Consultant Immunologists and Clinical Nurse Specialists and will be an integral part of the NUH Clinical Immunology and Allergy Multidisciplinary Team. The role involves participating in outpatient clinics and taking an active role as a prescriber; taking responsibility for the prescribing of specialist drugs such as Omalizumab, C1-esterase inhibitor, icatibant, danazol, anakinra, ciclosporin, Grazax and other biologics and immunotherapy

Main duties of the job

To provide highly specialist clinical pharmacist input and proactively deliver evidence base practice to adult patients with immunodeficiency, auto inflammatory diseases and allergy conditions.

To participate in outpatient Drug allergy/adverse reaction clinics and Penicillin de-labelling process working alongside Consultant Immunologists.

As an independent prescriber, you will initiate drug therapies, review treatment plans, provide dose adjustment, advice and prescriptions for immunotherapy and medication with a narrow therapeutic range requiring blood drug level monitoring(e.g. ciclosporin).

To facilitate and undertake repeat prescribing of Homecare biologics and immunoglobulin prescriptions; ensuring ongoing appropriateness, reviewing effectiveness and conducting required monitoring.

To be actively involved in the identification of patients with poor drug response, poor compliance and those requiring a review of incorrect dosing regimens.

You will be involved in responding to drug information queries and development of underpinning policies, procedures and guidance.

To be involved in reviewing evidence and primary literature for new drug therapies and supporting with new product evaluations.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced, motivated clinical pharmacist to develop advanced level Specialist expertise, to take on responsibility for providing enhanced pharmaceutical care forpatients.
