Job summary

Due to an investment of funding into pharmacy services within the surgical division at NUH, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Senior MMT within Surgical Admissions.

As a Senior MMT within Surgical Admissions, you will be an integral member of both the pharmacy team and the wider multidisciplinary team. We have the capacity to facilitate your progression in a supportive and nurturing environment.

These posts offer a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills for the management of patients on a large and busyunit comprising of the surgical admissions ward and the associated triage surgical triage unit. We see a wide range of different patients on a daily basis, which will allow you to develop and broaden your clinical knowledge.

Main duties of the job

Facilitating smooth transfer of medication related issues across the interface at admission, discharge and transfer

Medication management at ward level, including complex drug history taking, patient counselling and supporting patients and staff with self-administration of medicines

Near-patient dispensing and accuracy checking to support the supply of medications for the patients, helping enable flow within the service

Quality improvement projects involving stock management, cost savings and clinical audits to facilitate further professional development

Liaising with the multidisciplinary team and primary care colleagues to facilitate effective patient care and medicines management

Essential

  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services
  • General Pharmaceutical Council registered Pharmacy technician

Desirable

  • Medicine Management Assessments or Validations (Accredited or proof of in-house training)

Experience

  • Substantial knowledge of medicine management procedures and policies
  • Can demonstrate that they can work on their own initiative but know limits of their authority and knowledge.
  • Ability to perform and work under pressure to deliver objectives and plans
