SPECIALIST FELLOW IN CRITICAL CARE ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic intensive care department in a newly designed role to develop advanced skills in critical care echocardiography. The Critical Care Echo Fellowship is a 6-12months post for experienced doctors who have a strong interest in echocardiography and critical illness.The Fellowship includes dedicated time for echocardiography and support to achieve FUSIC or the British Society of Echocardiography Level 1 Accreditation (BSE level 1). The training will be supervised by a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Cardiac Anaesthesia with EACVI/EACTA/BSE level 2. There is also opportunity to perform peri-operative transoesophageal echocardiography under supervision for those interested in accrediting in EDEC (European Diploma in Echocardiography).
Main duties of the job
Applicants must have at least 2 years post-foundation experience in acute specialties including anaesthesia (minimum 1 year) and critical care (minimum 3 months). The post would be ideally suit a single-CCT ICM trainee in Stage 2 training as part of a Special Skills Year (subject to prospective approval from local TPD) or as a post-CCT fellowship. Applications would also be welcomed from dual or joint ICM trainees as part of OOPE/OOPT and from equivalently experienced Trust or SAS doctors who can demonstrate a career interest and regular sessional commitment to ICM.Clinical
The successful applicant is expected to participate in on-calls on the Senior (Airway) Critical Care Rota. This will take up 50% of the time. The remainder of the time will be devoted to developing a specialist interest in the named areas.
