Job summary

The Lung Function Lead will have responsibility for the Lung Function, Sleep and NIV Physiology departments at NUH taking a system wide view of healthcare to ensure that safe and effective care is designed, delivered and continues to be improved.

You must be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), hold a Masters (or demonstrate equivalent research experience) and be a member of an appropriate professional body with experiences in a leadership role.

Strategic and business planning;

Service improvement and change management;

Quality systems management;

Budget management;

Performance monitoring and management;

Developing talented staff.

About us

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts is one of the biggest acute Trusts in the UK. It has one of the largest respiratory departments with 28 consultants and a nationally renowned academic department. The respiratory service provides a combination of secondary and tertiary respiratory care to the people of Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands. Tertiary services include Asthma, COPD, IPF, lung cancer, cystic lung disease/LAM and NIV.

Lung Function services are based at 3 locations; the Queen's Medical Centre, the Treatment Centre and at the City campus. The recent announcement of major funding to review and improve the provision of all services across the Trust presents an exciting opportunity to rescope lung function services across at NUHT in line with potential service relocations and the new ICS/long term respiratory plan.

Manages scientific, administrative and support staff including recruitment, workload allocation, career development and performance;

Accountable for the development and delivery of strategy, policy developments, annual and financial planning and budget management;

Accountable for the quality of the services including audit, research and development, procurement and quality assurance of all equipment;

Manage the service and resources of the Respiratory, Physiology department ensuring that services are delivered in a timely manner in accordance with national and local targets and policies, within budget by trained and competent staff;

Provide effective professional leadership for all physiologists taking into account relevant legal, ethical and professional frameworks and maintaining high professional standards.
