Job summary

Full time Principal Clinical Scientist (Band 8B) to lead the

Molecular Diagnostics Cancer Laboratory which forms part of the Genomics and Molecular Medicine service

The Genomics and Molecular Medicine service at Nottingham University Hospitals is a laboratory service covering all aspects of Genetic testing and is a Local Genomics Laboratory within the East Genomics Laboratory Hub.

Main duties of the job

To lead the provision of genetic testing within the molecular diagnostics (cancer) lab and also take on a significant leadership role within the Genomics and Molecular Medicine Service, including contributing to overall strategic development of the service .

Qualifications

Essential

  • oBSc (Hons) 2:1 or higher in a relevant subject
  • oDiploma of the Royal College of Pathologists (Dip RCPath).
  • oRegistered Clinical Scientist (with the Health Professions Council).
  • oEvidence of on-going training and Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

  • oPhD in a relevant subject
  • oFRCPath in a relevant discipline

Experience

Essential

  • oSix years relevant post-graduate experience in Molecular Diagnostics related to either Cancer or Haemato-Oncology
  • Leadership skills

Desirable

  • oExperience of developing and validating new assays
