This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and work in a fast-paced Endoscopy unit as an Environmental Co-Ordinator.

We are looking for a passionate and proactive individual with a thrive for a fast-paced clinical environment, who has an attention for detail, safety and efficiency with good communication skills to liaise with clinical staff, cleaning teams and estates.

As an integral member of the Endoscopy team, you will be at the heart of maintaining a clean, safe and compliant environment. The role is not just about keeping the department tidy. It involves supporting best practice, ensuring compliance with National Cleaning Standards and Standard Operational Procedures. This is a vital role that combines infection prevention, environmental standards and operational support for the unit and to ensure the best quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

The role includes:

General tidying of the department

Provide refreshments for patients that are able to eat and drink post procedure.

Undertake and maintain daily, weekly and monthly checks for all Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs).

Maintaining all cleaning duties in line with National Cleanliness Standards 2021 and BHNFT Cleaning Policy, in all areas and rooms within the Endoscopy Department.

Liaise with infection control and domestic staff where appropriate under the direction of clinical staff.

Maintain equipment checks ensuring in working order e.g. INR and Blood Glucose machines. Additionally, report any faulty equipment as well as liaising with Medical Engineering to chase up progress of broken equipment.

Maintain checks on staff fridges as well as checking department fridge temperatures daily.

Maintain an asset register for the department.

Take samples to the laboratories as required.

Ensure scope drying cabinets are correctly cleaned inline with SOP monitoring daily and weekly.

Regularly check store rooms are stocked appropriately and tidied. As well as, ensuring they are appropriately restocked and taking action if stock levels are low/high.

Ensure all rooms, pre assessment and the discharge area are fully equipped with correct leaflets and paperwork needed for pre and post procedure care.
