4391 - Vascular Access & Medical Imaging Booking Clerk
This job is now closed
Job summary
The interview date for this role will be 13th February 2026.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the form of a newly created post working within the Medical Imaging and Vascular Access booking teams to play a pivotal part in the delivery of high quality and timely patient pathways associated with both Medical Imaging and Vascular Access processes, referrals and results.
This role is key to supporting both departments to meet important patient pathway milestones.
You will need to have the ability to proactively challenge and chase patient appointments, test results and investigations, working in close collaboration with the Vascular Access team, Medical Imaging Systems Team, cancer MDT coordinators, imaging booking clerks, Radiologists and Modality Leads.
You will need to be able to work well under pressure whilst demonstrating compassion and empathy towards patients.
Knowledge of the different types of examinations performed in Medical Imaging and experience using the Trust patient administration system (PAS) and Radiology systems is essential.
Main duties of the job
This is a split role between two services located within the same departmental area. The Vascular Access aspect of this role is new and would therefore suit an individual with great communication and organisational skills who is able to liaise directly with Vascular Access staff and patients to understand their needs and therefore help develop an effective and efficient administrative service.
The successful candidate will share their time between the administration of Lung Cancer Screening and Mutual Aid processes, booking of Imaging GP and outpatient appointments and the booking and administration of Vascular Access appointments and outcomes.
You must be able to prioritise your own workload and be able to respond quickly and with flexibility to changing deadlines, depending on emerging pressures.
You will be required to provide and receive complex and sensitive information, doing this in a way which demonstrates the highest levels of compliance against confidentiality and information governance standards.
You will also need to identify and seek to resolve bottlenecks or delays in the patients pathways, escalating issues where necessary to the service managers in either Medical Imaging or the Vascular Access service as required.
