Job summary
We are looking to employ an
enthusiastic Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology to a full time, permanent post.
The post
will appeal to appropriately trained surgeons with a proven interest in Ophthalmology.
The appointee will have the enthusiasm to work alongside the
existing Ophthalmic surgeons to ensure the smooth delivery of an enhanced
service, capable of meeting all targets. The post will include regular work in
outpatient clinics, , operating theatre lists, multi-disciplinary team meetings
amongst other clinical activity when required.

Essential
- Shall have served for a minimum of 6 years in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and / or closed SAS grades.
- Shall have completed a minimum of 12 years medical work (either a continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of 6 years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and / or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.
Desirable
- Training in sub-specialist area of practice.
- Broad clinical experience in Ophthalmology.
Research/ Audit/ Teaching
Essential
- Evidence of the ability to conduct medical research.
- Ability to critically evaluate medical research.
- Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
- Experience of training medical undergraduates and postgraduates
- Training the Trainers.
Desirable
- Evidence of research published in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national or regional conferences.
- Ability to organise and present audit.
