Job summary
Are you looking for a new challenge? We are introducing an exciting new role in the Chemotherapy unit as a scheduler. This will be piloted as a fixed term contract for 12 months with a view to this becoming a permanent post. The chemotherapy unit at Barnsley provides cancer treatments for local patients with Haematological and oncological conditions. We are a small friendly unit who like to make our patients, and their families, feel safe and comfortable while they are going through a stressful time of their life. We currently have 6 chairs and we are open Monday to Friday providing cancer treatments for Barnsley and Weston Park patients. As a part of this team you will assist the existing nursing and admin staff in offering a person-centred approach to patient care, and a safe and caring environment.
Main duties of the job
This is a brand-new role and would suit someone who loves a challenge, who is organised, dynamic and passionate about service improvement and providing high quality careThis role involves;
Managing the chemotherapy unit diary
Coordinating the daily running of the chemotherapy unit alongside the Nurse in charge
Booking in new patients and allocating them to the specialist Nurses
Preparing documentation for treatments and clinics
Manning the chemotherapy unit phone and directing callers to the correct person
Being the point of contact for other professionals
Liaising with other members of the MDT
Work closely with existing admin staff coordinating appointments and managing patient flow
Managing the Chemo unit environment
Ordering stock/stock rotation
