9 Hour post fixed term until March 2025.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infant feeding Team, this is a new post of an Infant Feeding Midwife to work within the Hospital Infant Feeding Team. The successful applicant will work with and alongside the Infant Feeding Coordinator and Team to ensure the UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards are embedded in routine practice and are maintained within the Trust.
If you are interested in supporting mothers/parents within their infant feeding journey, this could be the role for you. The successful applicant will respect ALL mothers/parents choice of feeding, encourage skin to skin contact, close loving relationships and enabling mothers/parents to responsively meet their babys needs. Providing evidence-based, mother/parent centered information and supporting individualised care.
Main duties of the job
An Infant Feeding Midwife will support the Infant Feeding Coordinator in the day to day running of the Infant Feeding Team and act as a role model through demonstrating evidence-based care in relation to infant feeding and relationship building.
Be a confident and competent autonomous practitioner who practices within the sphere of the Nursing and Midwifery council and NMC guidelines. Act as a mentor to student midwives and other staff and learners/ facilitating preceptorship for newly qualified midwives and support the induction of new staff
Supporting the Infant feeding Coordinator to:
Improve Breastfeeding rates and meet national targets
Provide support, information and advice to mothers/parents
Train health professionals
Maintain the UNICEF UK, Baby Friendly Initiative Standards
Work in close partnership with the 0-19PHNS.
Undertake audits
Provide 1 to 1 support or facilitate group sessions
