An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop and deliver prehabilitation and rehabilitation pathways across Barnsley and help thousands of patients across South Yorkshire.

Active Together is a prehabilitation and rehabilitation service supporting people following a cancer diagnosis with physical activity, nutrition, and wellbeing guidance. The service has been designed by Sheffield Hallam University who work in close collaboration with NHS teams to support the delivery and evaluation of the service.

The Active Together service launched in Sheffield in 2022 and is currently expanding to new sites across South Yorkshire in Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster. Active Together South Yorkshire will provide equitable, multi-modal and personalised prehabilitation and rehabilitation support that meets the needs of patients across the region and generates evidence for a commissioned service.

Barnsley Hospital Foundation Trust and Barnsley Premier Leisure are working in partnership to deliver this programme to the population of Barnsley.

Active Together is funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research, Yorkshires independent cancer charity, working so more people can live longer, healthier lives, free from cancer.

Main duties of the job

Maintain a system for Active Together therapy out-patient clinics. Ensure the smooth running of the therapy reception areas.

Manage the outpatient clinics across Active Together Therapies. Assist in the management of the outpatient appointment waiting lists, booking new appointments, managing the daily clinics for all Therapy teams. Collecting data for the Service Managers as required. Escalate any issues arising to the Therapy Support Service Manager and the Active Together Service Manager.

Communicate effectively with team members and patients either face to face or via the telephone. This often requires skills of tact and persuasion. Adopt a flexible patient centred approach at all times.

Ensure therapists have, clinic lists before each clinic/session, and that therapist holiday periods are appropriately managed.

Provide a high quality PA/administration service to therapy services, adhering to the departmental standards for letters/appointments.

Assist with the management of the Active Together Service Managers diary, acting as a PA where required. Book meetings & venues taking into account other responsibilities.

Organise multi-disciplinary meetings, book venues, plan agendas and take and distribute minutes.

Help, support and train new staff in relevant areas.
