Job summary

Our inclusive and diverse Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust where we provide patient-centred clinical Pharmacy services to some 400 beds across medical, surgical and specialist areas as well as a number of outpatient clinics. We are innovative and forward-thinking and have invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics and state of the art dispensaries and technical services. The department is noted to be very friendly, and is constantly looking to develop and expand. This is an exciting time at Barnsley Hospital with the recent implementation of electronic prescribing bringing excellent opportunities for further innovation and service development.

Main duties of the job

Following a thorough and structured induction programme you will join our team of ward-based clinical pharmacists. The role include:

To participate in the provision of a full pharmaceutical service to the Cardiology and Respiratory wards.

To practice as a fully registered non-medical independent prescriber (following appropriate training).

To develop, implement, monitor and evaluate protocols and guidelines within the Cardiology and Respiratory specialist areas.

We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to lead and develop our pharmacy service on the Cardiology and Respiratory wards. As well as being able to demonstrate strong leadership and service development skills, you will be able to exercise advanced clinical skills by participating in ward rounds and within MDT discussions. Strong communication skills and team working is essential as you will be working with a wide range of healthcare professionals.
