A leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Research Nurse with a passion for operational delivery of clinical research to join our growing Research and Development team.
We are looking for a full-time, Band 7 Lead research Nurse to provide leadership and manage the research nurses and administrative staff who deliver research throughout the Trust.
The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and legal frameworks related to the planning, undertaking and closure of clinical research studies, including Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products. The Lead Nurse will act as an expert resource for staff and take an active lead in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of clinical research studies, ensuring compliance with GCP and other legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Trusts Matron for R&D and will have an opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in change management, strategic planning and workforce organisation. They will be involved in raising the awareness, visibility and importance of research across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
The lead research nurse, will be expected to provide support, clinical supervision and training. Acting in a lead capacity you will ensure that studies are delivered effectively; efficiently and compliant with GCP and other legislative requirements. The role involves been responsible for ensuring the completion of study related activities in line with research protocols, whilst ensuring safety of study participants is maintained.
The Lead Nurse will be instrumental in implementing the team objectives to enhance the performance and development of the research nurses and the wider research team.
Working clinically with the team you will promote high standards of both patient care and research practice and facilitate appropriate educational and training opportunities. You will also work collaboratively across the Trust linking in with clinical teams and contributing to research delivery workforce developments and work streams. The post will cover both the inpatient and outpatient setting with the caseload varying in size and complexity according to the trial portfolio.
You should be able to adopt a flexible approach to the needs of colleagues, participants, and external collaborators managing multiple team members and representing the research team in internal and external meetings.
You must have effective organisational skills and be looking for a new and exciting challenge. You will be managing your own work load and direct the work of others to ensure the team succeeds.
