Barnsley
Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT) is recruiting to a permanent
Radiology
Specialty Doctor post in general radiology with an interest in non-vascular
intervention.
Recruitment
is to support the current team of 9 Consultant Radiologists following
substantial investment over the last 2 years including the opening of a
flagship community diagnostic hub. This investment will substantially widen the
footprint for Medical Imaging.
There
will be significant opportunities for service development, quality improvement,
teaching and training offering great potential for successful candidates along
side our current dedicated and enthusiastic radiology team.
Main duties of the job
Successful
candidates will work with current Radiologists providing general and
sub-speciality radiology to deliver acute and cold cross-sectional activity,
supporting clinical groups and clinical meetings. There will be no initial
on-call commitment, however this will be expected in the future once the
required standards are reached in terms of competencies.
On-call
is done from home with a full workstation.
Out of hours between 20.00hrs and 08.30 hrs is outsourced to an external
teleradiology company.
Opportunities
are present both within the department and Trust to offer service development,
add skill mix and offer teaching & training to local Specialty Trainees.

The Consultant Radiologist
Team is supported by Advanced Practitioners in GI, Vascular Access, Ultrasound
and Reporting alongside the wider team of radiographers, healthcare scientists,
sonographers, care support workers, PACS and admin teams. The trust is rated as good by the CQC
with performance benchmarked well within the top quartile of acute trusts by
NHSE.
The successful candidate will participate in the
general radiology workflow including audit, quality improvement, teaching and
clinical meetings.
We have benefited from recent
investment including CT, MRI, Ultrasound and a flagship Community Diagnostic
Centre (CDC) within Barnsley Glass Works in the heart of the community with
opportunities for greater expansion.
Candidates should have 6 months recent higher-level training in their
area of interest at a recognised training centre, equivalent experience in a
similar post, or FRCR.
Any candidate who is looking for less than full time/flexible working
arrangements will be considered for the posts.
Barnsley has excellent transport links to Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester
and the open countryside of the Peak district and Pennines are nearby.
